Hi All ,

In General ledger , we have the rounding off option to general , Sales orders , purchase orders and Prices .

Assume that if the rounding off setup for prices as mentioned below.

Prices :

Rounding Price : 0,0001  Rounding form : Normal .

Could any one explain with an example ..what does it mean and how it posts to general ledger or inventory transaction form ?

Thanks in advance.

    Hi lally,

What do you want to post to gl? This setup affects your item prices. You cant post items in gl directly. Can you elaborate?

    Thanks

    Ludwig

    Hi lally,

It's not a good practice posting the same thing several times as it might create confusions. I will have a look a the other thread then. What shall we do with this one? Delete it?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Ludwig ,

Both are two different posts , no confusion.

I want to understand that if we setup the Rounding Price : 0,0001  Rounding form : Normal in the general ledger , what is the impact , on which documents , as per above setup if we post any inventory related documents/journals ,how the cost price /sales price posts ?

Can you please explain the above questions ?

    Hi lally,

Do you have a concrete example that can be used for explaining? Alternatively you can check TechNet and the AX help site for a general explanation.

    Best regards

    Ludwig

    Hi lally,

The price rounding affects - as the name indicates - only prices of your items. If you specify prices for quantities in 1000s/10000s/... this setup affects the amount that you will see when vouchers are created.

If you want to avoid rounding variances it is a good idea specifying the prices in whole units, that is per 1 pcs. Yet, this is not always possible. In this case try to setup your prices in a way that you can avoid rounding variances.

    Hope this helps,

    Ludwig

Thanks ludwig for the reply ,

Sorry still i am not clear the about the example ...what you told ?

Could you explain with an example like if keep the rounding variance as mentioned above ...how the voucher entry will effect ?

If i understand ...then i can play with the system by passing different transactions ?

    Hi Lally,

Ludwig asked an example. Just having 0.0001 is not an example. A price rounding is not affecting the GL. If you post transaction using this rounding this is based on e.g. sales order, purchase orders or inventory journals. The GL amount is different from price roundings. In general there are price fields and amount fields. The amount for posting to the GL will always be as your accounting currency, so 2 decimals.

As all prices are also displayed in 2 decimals in AX, it would be better to use price quantities as Ludwig already mentioned.

E.g. if you have a price of 2.453 per unit, the best would be a setup of 24.53 per 10 or 245.30 per 100.
