Hi Everyone,

Number sequences in Dynamics AX are a terrible pain when you have to create manually a lot of number sequences for multiple companies.

I bet you thought Dynamics AX should have an option to copy from company A to company B all the Number Sequences you have configured.

It's known that Dynamics AX have a Wizard where you can create automatically all the number sequences you have not configured, but the number sequence names are too generic, you can't change display name and you will need to edit the format later for each number sequence.

I can provide you a solution to copy number sequences from one company to another. This solution will give you friendly names customized for each company, and will copy the format to the new number sequence. It will copy display name too.

With this tool, you can forget the pain of create number sequences and reference them*.

If you want this tool, contact with me we can make business.

*You will need to create first number sequences in the source company.

    Hi Umesh,

I can't share you the xpo because I want to earn some money in exchange. But if you like, I can share with you a demo video showing how it works.

    Hi Nitesh,

This solution is intended to make a copy of the number sequences from one company o other. The first thing you must do is create number sequences in the source company, give them a friendly name, description and the format you want. If you create a reference on those number sequences is a plus, because de solution copies the reference to associate it with the new number sequence.

When you run this solution, you select the source company and the destination company. Then, you will see a list with the number sequences will be created.

For example, I will have my company A as source and B as the destination.

I have the next number sequences on the A company:

    1.-

    Name: AREF

Display Name: Company A Reference Number Sequence

    Format: A-#####

    Reference: Basic -> System ID

    2.-

    Name: PRODUCT

    Display Name: Products number sequences

    Format: PROD-#######

    Reference: None

The B company number sequences will be:

    1.-

    Name: BREF

Display Name: Company B Reference Number Sequence

    Format: B-#####

    Reference: Basic -> System ID

    2.-

    Name: BPRODUCT

    Display Name: Products number sequences

    Format: PROD-#######

    Reference: None

    Hi Sparks,

If you have something to share, this is really appreciated. In this case you can open a project on e.g. Codeplex. Other members did this as well. Have a look some of the next examples:

    dax2012copycompany.codeplex.com

    dynamicsax2012r3notexists.codeplex.com

    privilegegenerator.codeplex.com

    currencycalculator.codeplex.com

Note that this is not the place to promote products. (....we can make business). In that case you can better use e.g. LinkedIn or Twitter.

Usually I use the Data import/export framework to copy the number sequences.

@Umesh: Asking a question is not a suggested answer. Please use this feature properly.
