We are having an issue where our timesheets are not always automatically posting when the timesheet is approved. Based on our configuration, this should only happen if there is an error with the timesheet (missing financial dimensions, project closed, etc.). Some timesheets are not posting even if there is nothing wrong with them, we are able to post them manually with no changes. We have been tracking the timesheets that are failing and there doesn't seem to be a pattern (certain types of projects, volume of timesheets, certain users/approvers, etc). We have the approved timesheet posting configuration set up to 'Automatic' and our batch jobs are set to run every 5 minutes.

Hi DAX_ajsqd2,

Have you checked whether there is something wrong with you batch job? Did it probably stops sometime for some reason? Have you tried setting up a new ('fresh') Batch Job that might be able to pick up the timesheets approved?

Hi DAX_ajsqd2,

What exact version of AX2012 are you using? In the latest versions the automatic posting is not dependent on a recurring batch. Instead it creates a batch job per timesheet which needs to be posted. Then it will be picked up as soon as the batch manager notices the new job.

Anyway: Like Ludwig mentioned, you can check the batch job history for possible additional information. In addition I have seen timesheets left not posted due to corrupted CIL on a certain batch AOS server. You can check if rebuilding CIL would help in this case.

Hi Andre/Ludwig,

Yes, recently we did a refresh where we did a full CIL and recreated our workflow batches however we are still seeing this issue. There is nothing in the logs on the workflow job and nothing shows on the timesheet workflow history to show why a timesheet would have failed posting. We are running on AX2012 CU9.

Hi,

Can you check on LCS if there is a known issue and probably a fix available? I don't have customers running this version and also using timesheets.

Can this issue be caused by maintenance work and starting and stopping of your batch servers through system admins/developers?

No this is not a possibility, it sporadically happens with no common reason as to why they are not posting. As someone said above this is also an issue in 365, which looks like it was resolved via KB 3825124. There is still an open issue to resolve the same issue in AX 2012 R3.
