Third Party Manufacturing Process Through AP

Hello,
Our platform is Dynamics Ax 2012.
We have a process requirement in which packaging material will be provided by us to a third party manufacturer who in turn will provide us the finished product to us that will be ready for sales by us through sales order.
My question is how we can map this requirement other than production orders? Like using inventory and purchase orders.
In other words, its a value addition to an item purchased through a vendor by another vendor.

    You asked another, similar question related to a printing process. If you don't want to use the production module, then you can solve this requirement in a similar way as I described as reply on your other question: Value addition to an inventory Item (dynamics.com)

    You can try creating material records in the system for packaging materials and finished goods. Set up third-party manufacturers as suppliers. Create purchase orders to purchase packaging materials from vendors (third-party manufacturers). Update inventory using the Product Receipts feature.
