Job registration and production area forms

Posted on by 850

Hello everyone,

I have an issue with job registration form. When I start AX 2012 and open the job registration it straight goes to job registration instead of first opening production area form to select the production area and then proceed to job registration. But if I open job registration and close it and then open it again it opens first the production area form and then from there it goes to job registration which is the way its supposed to work.

I appreciate if anyone helps on this.

PS. I have a CU7 update installed.

    Thanks for the reply.

Tim's article is phenomenal! That would have been a great help to me 12 months ago!

I know Job Registration and it's configuration inside out now. My question was specifically regarding the bug where the production area doesnt load when you first go into the form. If you ctrl+q and go back in it loads.

On the first attempt, it seems to load/refresh the "Production' grid and not the 'Production area' form.

I was hoping the original OP would have some info (if he still exists)!

The Start page parameter defines the first page you are taken to when logging on.

There are six options form which choose:

    •  None -  Returns to the logon screen. Used for punch clocks
    •  My jobs -  If the employee is connected to a resource, the terminal filters project activities and production jobs that are planned on this resource.
    •  Indirect activities -  Displays the available indirect activities
    •  Project -  Display projects and project activities
    •  Current Activities -  Shows a list of jobs the user has activly selected.
    •  Production -  Shows production jobs

Tim's post is useful to read - he promised a follow up blog on the Job registration form but I don't think he ever did it. https://timsaxblog.wordpress.com/2015/09/20/the-job-registration-form-in-ax-2012/

Hi. Sorry to bump an old thread but do you recall whether you resolved this. We just went live with CU7 and we get this 'buggy' behaviour. It is driving the shop floor mad. Compounded by the fact the whole of ax crashes of you exit job registration. (Although switch user - exit comes out cleanly).

User is then forced to restart client several times a day and log on to job reg twice to get their production area.

Is difficult to sell this system to shop floor staff at the minute.

    Hello zqr,

whether production area needs to be specified up front can be set in registration form configuration (production module/settings/terminals).

    Best regards,
