Date Compress Item Ledger

Hello All,

In old Navision there was a task to compress item ledger entries. I'm looking the same feature on Dynamics 2013 with no luck.

I did look under Administration\IT Administration\Data Deletion\Date compression and there is no such task available?

I'm trying to compress the table 32. Any suggestions are more than welcome.

Thank you.

Microsoft discontinued this feature as this was not working properly.

Compression is not recommend in the Inventory area. The Item Ledger Date Compression was removed due to several concerns:

    1) The date compression rarely resulted in a significant reduction in entries.

    2) Due to issues in early version  with compression of data resulting in incorrect historical records.

Thank you so much for the fast response. What other alternatives I have since our freeze (physical count) process take almost two hours to complete. We do have thousands of entries and my approach was to compress the item ledger.

The reason why is taking so much time is because we handle our inventory by item by bin by date produced and date stacked.

    Thank you.

    Hi Alex,

It is not recommended to compress the ILE entries as this will create problem in historical data.

It seems you are facing problem in PHY journal and you are using calculate inventory function of NAV and it is taking lot of time to calculate the data and populate in journal

If that the case try to apply some filters in report as well as check the indexing used in report . If you are using classic version then try to use optimize function and this may solve you problem.
