AX2012 R2 Data Export / import

Posted on by 2,721

Hi

we have 2 seperate instances of AX2012R2 running. I wanted to Transfer the Settings for the databaselog from System A to B. I created a definiton Group only having table "databaselog"  as table. Did Export it. The Export created the .def and .dat file.

When trying to Import i get the error: "File did not contain and vaild data. Nothing was imported" .. but when looking at the files .def and .dat it contains data .. (same happens when trying to re-import to ssystem A)

any ideas

Thx

Pirmin

Hi, I am referring to the "include system tables" checkbox on the import screen, not the screen used when creating a definition group, which is the one you selected, right?

On your definition group, click import. On the Import options screen, select the Advanced tab and on that screen, select the "Include system tables" checkbox.

    Hi didnt work ..

created on System A Export defintion ( checked "include System tables") , deleted all tables as databaslog was not part of it and added databaslog to table. Then created same on System B .. "same error as above" ..

    any ideas?

I know tht log may have an Impact , but we Need it .. but not on any "trans" table ..

    thanks

    Hi Pirmin,

Make sure the "Include system tables" on the "Advanced" tab of the import screen is checked.

Tested it on 2012 and that allowed me to import the records.

Edit: please consider not using the DB log (at least not for production environments) as it has an impact on performance.
