Coping a set of columns to a corresponding set of columns

I need to transfer a set of data for the current audit to the set of data for the previous audit, in preparation for the new audit cycle.

The corresponding columns in each set are defined identically.

Would it work to export the current set of columns, change the field names on each column in the export sheet to the corresponding column name for the new set, and import?

Or is there a better way that doesn't involve JavaScript?
