Alternatives for Field service mobile other than resco mobile app

Hello All,

I am in search of an alternative Field service mobile client for field technicians. The out of the box moble app is built on top of resco mobile app, are there any other vendors who provide similar mobile apps to work with Dynamics 365 Field Service?

Thanks & Regards,

Suresh

Why would you want to go for another app or build one than use the OOB Field Service Mobile app? Is there a specific feature you are looking for which is missing in the FS app?

    Hi Suresh,

There are no other credible and recognised apps that can readily connect and work with Dynamics 365 Field Service.

If you have very specific requirements, you can customise the Field Service App.

If you are concerned about the licensing part (some others also have concerns), you can use portal. But you always have give and takes if you have portal.

One other option is create your own power apps from scratch. But it's same again. There are many give and takes.

Microsoft strongly recommends using standard app for Field Service and not any other app.

    Hi Suresh,

Out of the box Field Service mobile app is the only standard and recommended app to connect to field service. There isn't any other app available which is recommended and can be connect to Dynamics 365 Field service and works like OOB Field service mobile app.

    Hope this helps.

    Best regards,

    Akash

Hi Suresh, let's get to the root of your question - why would you NOT want to use the FS Mobile App? Btw, if you don't need offline capabilities, you might want to consider a Power App (either model-driven or canvas).

    Hi Suresh,

I am currently working on a project which uses the Field Services Mobile app heavily and I have been configuring and customizing the app for the last 6 months. With my experience so far, I didn't find anything bad about the app. As the other replies suggested, the standard application recommended by Microsoft is FS Mobile App. The Woodford configuration tool is very easy to use and you can implement specific client requirements using HTML/JavaScript. But, must be very careful when you customize the app simply because it might break the standard FS processes. So you must have a good idea about the out of the box features both from the app and the CRM side.

If you are concerned about the licensing when you purchase FS Licences, it includes FS Mobile App licensing as well. But only thing is you need to activate the Woodford configuration tool for your organization after 30 days. Hope this helps.

    Thanks

    Sanjaya

    Hi Suresh,

I would suggest to use Dynamics 365 App for field service. But you will miss some crucial feature in the Dynamics 365 App than Resco. Also, you can choose Power Apps for your technicians as an option to consider.

Let me summarize all of this:  1) if your users require offline capabilities and some of the other features of the mobile client - signature capture, barcode scanning etc, then the only supported option and the suggestion I have for you is the Microsoft Field Service Mobile app.  2) if you don’t require any of that then you could build a PowerApp but would question why.

I think bottom line we need more information to properly guide you.

    Hi everyone!

If I need to use only some features in mobile solution such as the time and product consumption maybe it would be reasonable to create own Power App. It would be much cheaper in terms of the subscription cost. Right?

A Team Member license will give you read-access to Dynamics data. Full access to work orders (e.g. work order product consumption) requires a FS user license, regardless of which application you use.

    Thank you Alexander.

I'm sorry I expressed incorrectly. We want to use FS but principally in web. But almost 1000 tecnicians should register only time and (perhaps) product consumption. If they need full licensies for a such small function?
