General ledger parameters have been set to use dimension from Accounting distributions
This works fine for Purchase orders and free text invoices however it does not seem to be applied when processing sales orders
Does anybody know if this functionality is not applied to sales orders

Ref. to D365FO description for this field, select Accounting distributions to create the offsetting subledger journal account entries based on the financial dimension values on the accounting distribution for which the offsetting subledger journal account entry is created.

As far as I can remember this works only for source documents which do support the sub ledger journal functionality where accounting entries are created via accounting distributions. The source documents available, can be reviewed on the 'Batch transfer rules' tab page in the options of the field 'Source document type'.
Sales order related posting types are not supported here.
