Which workflow software is recommended by the AX community.  Is there one that integrates better?

Is the AX internal workflow system not strong enough?  Thats what I've heard...Looking for A BPM solution

Dynamics AX has built-in Workflow Framework, which is flexible enough to use.

What shortcoming you came to know about Dynamics AX Workflows? If you can list those, possibly people can comment on those, so you can know if its matching your requirement or not

Also, what do you mean by BPM? I can think of only of Business Process Management and Business Process Modeling and neither is a framework for implementing and executing workflows, therefore they aren't  alternatives to Windows Workflow Foundation used by AX.

LCS contains Business Process Modeler, though.

You should make clearer (to us and maybe to yourself) what kind of software you're looking for. It's obviously a very wide term.

    Hi Isaacrose.

I don't think I'm an expert on BPM, but here is my take on the current workflow solutions provided by Dynamics AX.

Workflow in Dynamics AX is not a full business process management (or modelling) solution but rather a fairly powerful single document approval and task based workflow solution. I.E. It is primarily designed to operate on a single document at a time (E.G. Purchase Requisition) and is not really designed to control the flow and rules of a process through the various documents that occur through a single business process (E.g. Procurement process:  Purchase Requisition, Request for quotation, Purchase Order, Invoice etc).

In AX much of business processes are controlled through configuration rules alongside the workflow approval cycles on the individual documents to guide users through the way the business needs to operate.

I hope this helps a little

    Thanks

Would AX be able to handle a business process such as

Acquiring a project and paying for acquisition of such project

and then passing the project along to another department who then makes purchases on such project, gets external bids, purchase requisitions for the project.

once the project is complete, then we go ahead and proceed to tell the sales department this 'project' is available for lease, and it then enters the leasing system

For us, a project is a new property, and we do hundreds a month and the new 'projects' pass from department to department.

Basically, do I need to consider a separate BPM system in addition to AX?
