It had taken a longer time to get an acceptable Performance for the ribbon in CRM 2011.
We use in our application this ribbon by adding hundreds of Actions!!! For very complex applications.
How should that work in the future? I showed the actual solution within CRM 2013 with the seven entries for Actions. Some of my customer does not take me serious when I tried to explain to move from 2011 to 2013.
My opinion in the Moment: the new UI is nice, if you do not use CRM in complex implementations. it is for touch.
The Price is to high. We will lose our customers which invested a lot of Money in the platform and are now faced with this UI. Nice - but NOT for power users.
we have to accept that using a application the whole day, all the time, in a fast and efficient manner, is not the same as using it sometimes using a touch Interface.
