Error creating Production Journal from Production Order

Hi All,

We have a released Production Order containing multiple lines. When trying to create and post the Production Journal for the lines, one user is getting the following error:

"Entry Type must not be changed when a quantity is reserved in Item Journal Line Journal Template Name='PROD.ORDER',Journal Batch Name='<username>',Line No.='30000'."

Other users are able to create the Production Journal for this Production Order successfully, but as this is an error that is occurring regularly for this user I would like to get to the bottom of it. This user is able to create and post other Production Order Journals, therefore it seems that this is data related specific to this user.

Does anyone know why this might be occurring?

I look forward to any suggestions that you are able to provide.

Thanks.

Regards,

Blair

RE: Error creating Production Journal from Production Order

    Hi all,

The issue is that a negative reservation has been created in the batch.

To fix this, I created a configuration package and exported all existing reservation entries. (Table 337)

Then look for the reference numbers provided by the error code. Batch = name.whatever line = 50000.

I changed all the quantities on that reservation entry to zero and then imported just the single reservation entry with the issue back into business central.

This immediately resolved the issue for the user here.

    Good luck.

    Thanks!

    Hi Blairstid,

Hopefully you have resolved by now, but I just had the same error and eventually tracked it down to a reservation entry against the item journal batch name being used for the production journal batch.

As this had a reserved quantity set it then triggered the error message in the Item Jnl. Line-Reserve codeunit, VerifyChange function.

Posting in case it helps anyone else getting this error message.

It sounds a bit unclear, but I would start by isolating the problem. First try that same problematic user account logged on at another computer to see if they still experience the same problem. Next have another user log onto the computer where the user in question was experiencing the problem to see if another user gets the same problem on that computer. If you can confirm that the issue is with the logon or the issue is with the computer that will help you get to the bottom of it. Also, it could be the method the user uses (the way they are doing it). Hopefully, this is only a fluke with the one production order and you won't see it again, if not then there will be occasion to find the problem.

Do you have any customization's on item journal line table or CU 99000835 or in CU 22, if it is not happening for every users it could be some kind of customization. As error mentioned you get that error when you try to modify the line and if the line is already reserved. Best thing would be run the debugger and check the sequence of actions it is executing before it hits that error.
