Registering Standard Cost where Effective Date is before the Existing Entry

(0) ShareShare

Hi,

We have accidentally entered standard cost where the effective date is set at future date.
Hence there is no effective standard cost at effective date.

I have tried to enter updated standard cost where effective date is set at current date.
However, the AX does not accept new proposed effective date that is before the existing effective date.

How could I either:

1. Delete existing standard cost

2.Override effective date of existing standard cost

3.Let new up to date standard cost be recognised

Sincerely,

ABTS

Hi, have you tried changing your session date and entering the standard costs at an earlier date? This should work in my opinion. All the best, Ludwig

You can change your systemdate or session date as per requirement and update the date. or you can achieve through small x++ JoB.

Thank you for your kind response,

I shall attempt the "system date change method" first.

    Sincerely,

    Gentleman,

It seems that the windows only allows the clock to be forwarded.

Hence it is not possible to wind the clock backward...

Am I missing a secret button?

    Sincerely,

    ABTS

Hi ABTS, Please try using the Dynamics AX session date and time setup - not the windows clock. You can change the AX session date and time via the File menu button in the upper lefthand corner of AX. All the best, Ludwig

    Thank you Mr. Reinhard,

Though I changed the session date to the past, I am still getting an error message:

"The standard cost cannot be changed. A standard cost exists for a later date."

Quite interestingly, I do not get this error message at my sand box environment given that the future standard cost exists.

I am hypothesising that there is a setting prohibiting updating the standard cost given the future "from date" exists.

Are you aware of such setting?

    Sincerely,

    ABTS

    Hello ABTS,

I tested this once again and also received the error message "The standard cost cannot be changed. A standard cost exists for a later date." Seems that I chose the wrong site in my first test.

Ok, then what I could imagine as a possible workaround would be setting up a second standard costing version where you activate your standard cost prices as of today or earlier as required. Try to link the current version that you setup with the future prices to the newly setup version by specifying "fallback principle" = costing version and selecting the newly setup costing version in the fallback costing version field. This should make sure that the prices from the newly setup version are picked up until the future prices come into effect. I am not sure whether this is working as I have not tested it, yet I believe it might be something worth testing if you have the chance and time.

    All the best,

    Ludwig
