Interrupt in case of error account

Hi experts,

I have 4 questions regarding 'Interrupt in case of error account' on General ledger parameters.

(1.) If 'Interrupt in case of error account' checkbox is ticked, and 'Error account' is not blank,
which one of following predictions(A,B) is correct if an error occurred while posting a transaction:
A : Warning (interruption message) shown , but transaction still posted to 'Error account'. Or
B : Warning (interruption message) shown, and transaction not posted.

(2.) If 'Interrupt in case of error account' checkbox is not ticked, and 'Error account' is blank,
which one of following predictions(A,B) is correct if an error occurred while posting a transaction:
A : Warning (['Error account' does not exist] message) shown, but transaction still posted to blank account. Or
B : Warning (['Error account' does not exist] message) shown, and transaction not posted.

(3.) If 'Interrupt in case of error account' checkbox is ticked, and 'Error account' is blank,
which one of following predictions(A,B,C,D) is correct if an error occurred while posting a transaction:
A : Both Warnings (interruption message & ['Error account' does not exist] message) shown, but transaction still posted to blank account. Or
B : Both Warnings (interruption message & ['Error account' does not exist] message) shown, and transaction not posted. Or
C : Warning (['Error account' does not exist] message) shown, but transaction still posted to blank account. Or
D : Warning (['Error account' does not exist] message) shown, and transaction not posted.

(4.) I want to prevent posting to 'Error account' if an error occurred and make sure that the transaction not posted, so that the I can re-do the operation correctly and re-post without error on second attempt. So which one is the best option from question (1.), (2.), (3.)?

Best regards,

Aldausi

    Hi Aldausi,

If you don't mind, a short answer: If you want to prevent from having automatic postings on the error account, it would be the best to not setup the error account and also enable the option 'Interrupt in case of error account'.

Answers: 1B , 2B, 3 doesn't have the correct option. It will say it is missing a ledger account for posting.

    Hi Aldausi,

Fully agree with Andre. I would not like to have my system creating a transaction if an error exists.

It is always better getting an error message and fixing the error before things happen than having to do possibly complex and lengthy corrections after errorenous corrections happened. I would thus select no (3)

Hi Andre, Thank you for answering. Could you please kindly correct my following conclusion if I'm wrong:

    (1.)Warning : Interruption message. Transaction posted/not : not posted.

(2.)Warning : ['Error account' not exist]. Transaction posted/not : not posted.

(3.)Warning : message showing Error detail that need to be fixed. Transaction posted/not : not posted.

(4.)The best option is (3.), because the warning tell which operation that went wrong.

    Best regards,

    Aldausi

    Hello Aldausi,

I would consider this summary as OK based on your assumptions of the setup made further above.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
