Business Scenario: Parts that are Serial controlled(only Serial controlled) need to have an expiration date mandatory. Serial numbers are not having auto number series they are entered Manually.
Issue: if I mark a part as Serial controlled then the option for Manage Data in Manage inventory are uneditable.
my requirement is simple, i want to make certain serial controlled parts to have a mandatory expiration date when they are part of the inventory.

Shelf life management is only suitable for batch items. Please check the note content on this Doc: docs.microsoft.com/.../set-up-an-item-as-a-shelf-life-item
You need to activate both batch and serial.
