MultiSite and Transfer Orders

Hi,

In order for my client to transfer inventory from one location to another one in Axapta 3.0 they took the Intercompany approach. Basically, when a branch (Location) sales something, the process is to for branch A (in Italy for example) to create a Sales Order for the customer and at the same time create a PO for branch B (New York). Then Branch B will create a sales order for Branch A and at the same time it will create a PO to the vendor. This way, they will be able to transfer the inventory from Branch A to B.

I understand that in AX 2009 we have the multisite functionality and Transfer Orders, which could replicate in a way what my client is doing. However, we need to make sure that we can have the following when using Transfer Orders:

1.  Packing Slip

2.  No Sales Revenue between Branches (Transfers)

3.  Create a TO when there is no Physical Inventory

4.  Cost Transfer to the Branch where they are transferring to.

Based on the above, how can the multisite function and transfer order help my client achieve those requirements?

Any help or blog, document will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot!

Eduardo

    Hi

2009 does all of this as standard. There are new inter-site GL codes on the item group to handle potential site cost differences, for example if you hold average cost by site) but that is all. Trade and Logisitics manuals have the transfer orders in them I believe.
