Hi All,
I have recently joined a business and we want to migrate from a local Australian ERP solution (Pronto) to Microsoft Business Central. We are a small organization of 35 people with two offices close to Sydney and in Dubai. Main use is for project management of custom built capital goods. Topics:
- Forecasting of projects (actual vs. budget)
- Financial administration
- Hours administration
- Service bookings
- Warranty
Does anyone have experience with migrating a company from Pronto to Business Central? And are you based in/around Sydney? If so, please let me know.
Thanks.
Tim
Being based in Denmark I hardly qualify for a task like yours, but with 30+ years of NAV/BC experience, I can offer some advice.
1.
When you migrate, don't try to implement Pronto in BC, intead try to implmement BC as it is. If you try to make it look and feel like Pronto, you will never be completely satisfied, and you won't take advantage of all the features in BC.
2.
Don't attemt to migrate all data, it will cost you a lot of time and money. Instead, focus on migrating base data, and add the remaining data by hand.
Don't..... I repeat don't migrate historical data and tranaction data. My experience is, that because the data structures between systems are different you will end up with a result that never accurately matches, and you will spend a lot of time hunting conversion errors.
Instead, focus on getting base data migrated fast, small omissions or data that has been forgotten; add them by hand. Focus on getting your business processes running in BC, and familiarizing yourself with the sytem.
In my expreience, this is moch more productive, and will give you the most bang for your bucks.
