Add dimensions data for Customer/Items/Vendors through ODATA web service

Hi All,

I am trying to integrate Dynamics 365 with our internal software using ODATA webservice.

After successfully creating customers,Vendors and items i want to add the related dimension data also.

What page should i use to add dimensions data for the customers,Vendors and item?

I tried using page 540 with which i am successful in updating the dimensions data that was created manually in the browser.

But adding dimension data causes issues, the table id and No. fields goes as 0 or empty even when i send it and i get the following error:

The record in table Default Dimension already exists. Identification fields and values: Table ID='0',No.='',Dimension Code='BRANCH'

Please advice is there anything wrong in the approach or what.

Thanks

That is the right page but you need to add the Table ID and No. and send those fields.

For example, for the customer, you need to send the Table ID as 18 and No. as the Customer No. I would suggest you make a copy of page 540 and add those two fields and use that new page for your Odata service.

Another thing is if you are planning to set only Global Dimensions on those tables then you can just use  Global Dimension 1 code and 2 code fields to set the dimensions. You don't need another service.

    Thanks for the info.

I am already sending the Table id as 18 and No. with Customer No. but donno why its sending both as '0'.

The record in table Default Dimension already exists. Identification fields and values: Table ID='0',No.='',Dimension Code='BRANCH'

Somehow it doesn't pass the Table Id and No. fields whatever i provide it goes either '0' or empty string.

I am using Visual Studio 2015 and added the ODATA web service as service reference.

I cannot create pages as we don't have developer license as it doesn't allow me to create page.

We have around 5 dimensions so cannot use the Gobal Dimensions.

    Any Ideas??

Fixed the issue by adding fields Table Id and No. to the Page 540, should  have created another page as advised in the comment by Suresh Kulla but as we don't have developer license so added on the page 540 itself.

Thought of sharing the solution to help others in case they run in to the same issue
