Custom outbound AIF service request and response in same operation

Hi All,

I am figuring out to create a new custom webservice in AX 2012 R3.  Requirement is to create a webservice to request something from biztalk and read the response sent from biztalk and populate data in AX. All these request and response should happen synchronously.

As per my understanding, we can only request from AX to biztalk using outbound service but I am not sure about retrieving response in same operation.

Please let me know anyone come across requirement like above and show me some light to design my requirement.

Regards,

Madeva

I don't understand your requirement. You're saying that you want a new custom webservice in AX, i.e. something that other applications can call. But then you say you want to send a request to BizTalk, i.e. calling BizTalk services from AX. That's the opposite thing.

If it's true that you want to "request from AX to BizTalk", then you don't want "to create a new custom webservice in AX 2012 R3". You want to call BizTalk, not to create a new web service.

Thank you Martin for your prompt response.

Just to clarify your question, yes I want to call Biztalk service from AX(For ex: clicking on button, Biztalk service should be called and some values to be populated based on response for my request). If it is not possible from outbound custom AIF service, how else we can achieve it. How do we call Biztalk service from AX side?

Biztalk integration is explained in the documentation docs.microsoft.com/.../exchanging-documents-between-biztalk-server-and-aif

And consumption of external web services ( that could be Biztalk) is explained in the white paper go.microsoft.com/fwlink
