Microsoft Dynamics AX (Archived)

connection with the application object server could not be established ax 2012

Posted on by 50

I have (Disaster Recovery Site) and production site which contain Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 and I installed another AOS and SQL server on DR to be a backup for production AOS.

1-      DR Domain is child domain for production domain.

2-      I try to create database replication between both sites.

On the client computer I tried to change the connection on AX configuration utility to use the AOS on DR for testing the shifting operation for users between Production and DR.

But I face this error when run AX:

connection with the application object server could not be established ax 2012

is usually 2712 is same for both AOS server installations?

I have 4 AOS on my environment 3 Prod and 1 for DR, working on the same port without any issue.

communication with DR AOS IP Address rather than server name?

    working fine, telnetting and pinging.

wonder what kind of replication you have setup?

    Mirroring replication.

Is this enabled for entire database?

yes, I need on disaster and user go to DR he found all his work and all data stored on DR same like Production.

how you want to manage ModelStore with such an architecture?

    please explain more about ModelStore.

Will you deploy the updates on both AOS servers or at one?

I don't know yet, its first time for me with Microsoft Dynamics. that's why I need to learn more from others.

I am not sure what may be causing this connection issue. Is this the trust relationship between Production and DR domain. Are the ports to communicate RPC which is usually 2712 is same for both AOS server installations? Also, have you tried client communication with DR AOS IP Address rather than server name?

If I will be in your shoes, I will first make sure if DR domain is trusting me as user from other domain. I would most likely write some C# code to check AD authentication. I will also make sure on which ports the communication is trying to establish with DR from a client of Prod domain.

Secondly I wounder what kind of replication you have setup? Is that snapshot replication or transactional replication? Is this enabled for entire database? It can be problem if this is for entire database. We tried to implement Replication many years ago for a client but ended-up with problems, and had to change the solution. The AX database, is not having the business data only. It has the Environment specific data as well. Secondly how you want to manage ModelStore with such an architecture? Will you deploy the updates on both AOS servers or at one? Interesting topic though.
