I am experimenting on Sales trial version and found qualification of lead process confusing. When the qualify lead stage is clicked the process is prompting to either select an existing opportunity or create a new opportunity instead of automatically creating a new opportunity. I have verified the Qualify lead experience setting and it is set to automatic creation of records. Is there anything that I am missing here. Your help is much appreciated.

Qualification of lead not automatically creating a contact and opportunity records
This is correct functionality,
If you click the qualify button present in Ribbon button then it will create the Opportunity along with that account and contact.
After this opportunity will get created in below stage:
Now, if you click the stage button then SYSTEM will ask you populate the opportunity for the current lead so that when it moves the stage system will able to find the opportunity associated to lead.
