Trying to post check but the system is giving this error: "Document No. must have a value in Gen. Journal Line: Journal Template Name=PAYMENTS, journal Batch Name=DEFAULT, line No=10000. It cannot be zero or empty."

I try to VOIDED the check but the system is now letting me and bring the same error.

How to fix it!

Check if the Document No. is not blank in the journal line. Some companies use automated Nos. in the Journal and others do not. Check what is the process used in your company. You can easily check this by going to Journal Batch and check the No. Series field.

Hi BKim,

usually check journals don't have automated number series, so you need to put the check number into the "Document No." field on the journal. Having the check number (as opposed to any other pre-generated number) in this field would help you with the bank reconciliation later.

Hi BKim,

You need to check Document no. in journal line.

If Serial no. is not set up for journal batch you need to specify Document number in journal lines manually.
