Suggestion to rush Opened Purchase Order

Dear everyone,

MRP suggestion

I just joined forum, I have question from AX2009 users, in case we have unplanned demand, for example, we have Opened PO materials in Oct, but customer rush demand from Oct to Sep, after run MRP, do we have anyway to rush Opened PO from Oct to Sep.

Currently, after run MRP, it will suggest new Plan Order, ignore Opened PO. in Oct.

thank you so much,

Rgds, Suwatu

    Hi Suwatu,

There are a lot of parameters and I don't know what has been setup. There are options to configure action messages which might fit your requirement. There are differences between AX2009 and the current versions. I'm not able to suggest the best setup as I don't have any AX2009 environment anymore and I don't know the current setup and requirements. But potentially, you can try to setup some messages related configuration in a test environment.

Whether you can expedite or increase existing orders depends of course on whether the vendor has already shipped, and how that might affect other orders e.g. for overall delivery costs.

Action messages is how mrp communicates the option to expedite supply  or redate demand rather than raise a new order.  More tolerance on negative days, and shorter LT in the system, will make it more feasible for the system to consider whether it can expedite.   (i.e.is expediting or increase of an existing order logically possible - mrp should not be expected to suggest expediting outside the 'rules' you define for calendars, LTs etc. ).

Action messages do not change Planned orders - mrp builds and looks at Reqtrans requirement only to start with and generates planned orders . Mrp does not know whether you can expedite so it plans. After it has planned, if configured to run messages, then  it will run a further step to see if the plan can be better optimised and that step triggers messages based on the policies and  fences set up for messages.

So some expediting requires manual intervention You can manually make a change based on the suggestions. However you have the option to copy the date calculated by action messages to the requirement date. This option you can see it in the Master Planning -> Setup -> Plans -> Master Plans -> Action Messages (Tab).

As a manual process you need exception reports for the specific items to see what order/order lines are promised.

One screen that might help is the arrival screen - filter for the specific item/vendor.

Once you decide to expedite an order - then get vendor confirmation, and maybe change the Purchase order pool to EXP so you can filter /create exception report for flagged expedite orders to review  and to progress daily.
