WMS, Transfer Orders and Loads

Greetings Forum!

Does anyone know if it is possible to have an INBOUND Load associated to a transfer order?

Here is the scenario:

  • Using AX2012R3 CU10
  • WH1 - using WMS
  • WH2 - using WMS
  • Transfer order from WH1 to WH2
  • WH1 has the Outbound load (and shipment) associated to the transfer order.
  • Is it possible to have an inbound load for WH2? Similar to an inbound PO load?
  • WH2 wants to see ALL of their inbound traffic (POs and TOs) in one place (using either the LOADS form or workbench).

I've been playing with this in the demo environment, and it doesn't appear to be possible, but just wanting to check to make sure I haven't missed something.

Thanks in advance!

    Hi Hanno,

Today I also worked on the same issue and as you said it does not seem to be possible.

It does not really make sense to have the inbound Transfer order loads, because the purpose of the Load is to plan transportation and evaluate transportation costs. Which has already been done, if necessary, when shipping the transfer order from WH1.

What you do want, from what I can read, is something similar to the "Arrival overview" form, which shows all expected receipts for the selected time fence.

This form does not however allow creating the work from there - you'd still need to use the WMDP for that.

But as a general overview of inbound receipts - that seems like a good fit?

Hi  Ivan - I don't agree that you don't need inbound transfer order loads - I work with companies in New Zealand that would like to use transfer orders to ship to warehouses in Australia, and they'd really like to have all of the functionality of inbound purchase orders (that's the shipment costs added to inventory; and tracking; and third party freight invoices) - but because we don't get that functionality with transfer orders we have to use intra-company sales and purchase orders.  I think that there's also a requirement for the outbound sales order load to automatically become the inbound purchase order load on an intercompany purchase order. Do you know if there's a roadmap that includes this?

    Thanks

    Tim

Ooh - seconded. That's a mod I've seen done recently.

    Hello Ivan,

Thanks for the feedback and confirmation that the functionality is not currently available.

Naturally, our complete business requirement is more complicated than I outlined in my original post.  Looks like we'll need to do more research to figure out how to resolves this.
