Incorrect "Circular Reference" Error during security customization import

Posted on by

We've created our own security roles in a separate system and now I want to export and import it into another system.

But when I do D365 claims that there is a circular reference. There is not. Is there anything I can do about this?

Unfortunately the problem persists. The entities also falsely claim that there is a circular reference.

Is it possible that there is some kind of nesting limit? My structure is like this:

    1. "Process" roles that contain vanilla roles so they enable a particular process that I've recorded and analyzed
    2. "Profile" roles that contain "process" roles so they enable all process needed for a particular job profile. These may also contain other "profile roles" when there is a relation where some employees can do everything another group can but also more.

That last part DOES NOT loop. It is a strict escalation from lower to higher "privilege" roles. It does however mean that I've got multiple levels of custom roles and as soon as I go over two levels (profile -> process -> vanilla) D365 complains.
