Subject: Seeking Guidance on Understanding Data Flow and Table Relationships in Business Central

Hi everyone,
I’m a powerbi junior developer working with Dynamics 365 Business Central, and I’ve hit a roadblock in understanding how data flows through the system and how tables are interconnected. Specifically:
How do transactions (e.g., sales orders, purchases) post to related tables like G/L Entry, Customer Ledger Entry, or Item Ledger Entry?
Are there any recommended resources, tools, or approaches to better visualize and explore table relationships?
I’ve reviewed some official documentation and videos, but I’m still struggling to connect the dots. Any advice, examples, or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance for your help!
Best regards,
I have the same question (0)

Unfortunately, we don’t have ER diagrams or a flow structure to explain this to you. There are a few paid websites that sell ER diagrams, but I don't think that will be helpful. It’s essential to first understand how the process works. Then, you can review the backend processing or code to see how everything operates.

There is lot of information on the Microsoft website, for example below it will explain you the sales process and what records it will create.
