Purchase Req lines require Project Activity Number?

Hello,

I'm not that familiar with the Purchase Requisition side of AX 2012 as we weren't using it in my previous role.

That being said I've searched for the answer and spend a good bit of time looking at this in AX here but to no avail.

We have a situation where some purchase requisitions are requiring that a Project Activity Number before they will work, however there are other users that are raising reqs without an activity on the lines and this isn't an issue and working as it was intended to not have an activity number.

Can someone point me in the direction of where to look for this? I've checked the Projects and don't see a difference, the activity check boxes under Setup on both are all unchecked.

Thanks

Craig

It's possible to make a PR-workflow configuration working as described, but otherwise i can't think of other configuration (assuming that all tickboxes on each "project-id in all levels" is set with blank requirement for activity.

    Hello Craig,

go to /Procurement and sourcing/Setup/Procurement and sourcing workflows. see if you have a purchase req workflow setup. If yes, check the settings. There might be a user group setup to use Project Activity Number. If that is the case, you can go to System administration/Common/User groups and remove the user you don't want to have this active for. Or you can adjust the work flow to not include this at all.

Thanks Boris. This looked good and I do see that some pieces of the workflow do require activities.

However, what I've now found is that the workflow is fine - it's when they go create the PO from Release Approved Purchase Requisitions that they get the error saying it can't be created because there is no activity.

What we have effectively is three scenarios in release approved:

    1) The PR lines have activities - PO creates OK

    2) Some PR lines do not have activities and shouldn't require activities - PO creates OK

    3) Some PR lines do not have and should not require activities, but PO FAILS to create until an activity is added.

Is there further checking happening when the Purchase Order (new) button is clicked?

Do you also have a workflow for PO-approval? Possibly with required activity?

As the PO goes through workflow automatically. Also from approved PR.

    Craig,

As Daxer said, did you also check PO workflow? This workflow is located in the same area as the PR Workflow. Procurement and sourcing>Setup>Procurement and sourcing workflows.

Note: if you have made a change in the workflow and activated the new version of the workflow. The effected orders would have to be recalled and resubmitted to follow the new version of the workflow.

Folks. sorry for the delay in getting back. It turns out it's related to a module called EAM that seems to be forcing this, it's only on lines that are coming via that. Have asked the vendor to look into it.

    Dear Craig;

You can disable the project Activity option from the Project Management Module..

For this you will navigate to Project management module and then select the particular project , double click and

open the project and after that edit the project and go to fast tab setup and from there remove the checks from

hour expense and item journals  (require activity on journals) and save the project and now try to post Purchase

requisition, hope so it will work..

    Thanks and Best Regards

Thanks Mohamed, but this not ticked on any of our projects, I believe that EAM must have some underlying setting that is forcing this.
