Management Reporter error Microsoft.Dynamics.Performance.Reporting.DataProvider.Server.DirectLinkService

Hi!

We have configured Dynamics SL 2018 CU4 server and MR 2012 CU16 (2.12.16009.1). Created a few new application databases, everything works fine with MR.

Today I migrated application database from old SL 2011 server. Steps: created new database in SL 2018 with the same name as from SL 2011; deleted that database and restored from SL 2011; upgraded the database to 2018 CU4 in database maintenance; added company. All data appears fine in SL for the migrated company.

In MR refreshed companies, the new company appeared, ran validation, no errors. New company appears in Report Designer.

Now any report I try to create for the migrated company, I get the following error: The operation could not be completed due to a problem in the data provider framework

Below are the entries in Windows Event Log:

The operation could not be completed due to a problem in the data provider framework.   Action: schemas.microsoft.com/.../SubmitRequestServiceFaultFault                Fault code: Sender                IsSenderFault: True               IsReceiverFault: False           Reason: The operation could not be completed due to a problem in the data provider framework.

                Machine: XXXXX

The operation could not be completed due to a problem in the data provider framework.

                Component: Microsoft.Dynamics.Performance.Reporting.DataProvider.Server.DirectLinkService

                User: XXXXXXXX\Administrator

                Machine: XXXXX

Not much help and not sure where to start even.

Any help is appreciated.

    Hello Brian!

Thank you for the reply. You're spot on, rebuilding datamart was the solution.

I've figured it out myself when I couldn't find another solution, just forgot to update my post.

Not sure what is the specific cause of the problem, but an error in data provider framework should cause you to rebuild the datamart. It could be the flexdef table / subaccount structure, or something simple like the Change Tracking feature on the select SL tables integrating with MR. In any case the rebuild is a likely approach to take.
