D365: Sales Line automatic Item Reservation -

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by

Hi All

Sales line is enabled for automatic reservation.

Item A - On hand 50 Quantity

Sales Line created for Item A for 70 Quantity. 50 is reserved and 20 is remaining on order.

Later, Item A quantity arrived and on hand is available. How will the remaining 20 quantity be automatically reserved on sales line without manual intervention?

    Hi,

To have it automatically done by the application you should have an inventory transaction , that will have an inventory dimension same with your sales order line, with a Status Receipt "On Order" for the same item.

That means, when you want to reserve items you should have item A in a transfer order or purchase order, or inventory transfer journal etc. that will arrive to the same site/warehouse which is on your sales line.

In that case, the remaining 20 will have a status issue of "Reserved Ordered" instead of "On Order"

To do this AX will create inventory marking by itself.  When you accept the items, Reserved Ordered status will be updated to "Reserved Physical".

One last thing, the checkbox labeled "Reserve ordered items" in Inventory Management/Setup/Inventory and warehouse management parameters controls if "Reserved ordered" status will be used or not. If this checkbox is not ticked then, application won't bother reserving items against incoming inventory.

If you need more information about "Status Receipt" and "Status Issue" values of inventory transactions, you can check Tim's blog post here: The Inventory Transaction Status in AX 2012.

Hello Fatih, Thanks for the response.

I understand that if there is transfer or purchase order or inventory transaction that is created in AX, then it happens automatically.

What if at the time of SO line is created, there is no transfer/Purchase/inventory for item A. But later we create a PO and procure the inventory, is there any batch job that triggers the reservation and reserve this automatically?

    Hi,

    No, unfortunately not.

You can use Marking for this, or trigger reservation again.

We developed a custom functionality that reserves all the lines of an order, with a button on top ribbon. It simply goes through each line and triggers reservation functionality for all "On Order" quantity in inventory transactions for this order.

    Hi Vivek6589,

If you're using functionality in the Warehouse management module, there is a batch job that can reserve stock to sales orders.

If you're not, the 'Release sales order picking' form may help you, but it has to be done manually.

    Hello Guy,

Thanks! please let us know what is that batch job you were referring to exactly that can reserve the stock on sales order.

The job is Warehouse management -> Periodic -> Automatic release of sales orders.

I talked about it a bit in this thread:
