Hi All,

I'd like to delete all the transactions And Configurations from Dynamics Ax, in other words, I would like to do a kind of factory reset to my database. (QA enviroment), So far what I have in mind is :

  • Create new partition(tempPart)
  • Delete old partition(intinial)
  • Create initial again
  • Delete tempPart.

Is this a the best approach? what do you guy recomend?

When you reply from a certain answer it does not link to that answer. So indeed we don't know which option you had chosen now. Can you provide some feedback which action "solved" your question?

    RE: Delete Partition

    Hi Abraham,

My colleague and fellow MVP Dick Wenning once created a script to delete a partition, but that won't help you in your case. If you delete initial to have it recreated, it will delete all data of tables which uses partitions. This is about 99% of the tables. If you recreate initial you have to perform the steps of the initialization checklist again.

So the quickest way for you is probably create a new empty AX database. Just re-install the AOS and execute the steps on the checklist. You have to do this checklist anyway.

    RE: Delete Partition

As far as I know you cannot delete partition, but why do you want to ? It's completely isolated so you should not worry about it.

    You can

    1) Create new partition

    2) Use it.

    3) If you need demo data -  upload it.

Another good option is to setup data you need, backup a DB and restore it each time you need to do reset
