Budget Register Entry with Account Structure Advanced Rules

Hi, I have a client, on AX 2012 R3 CU8, using Advanced Rules for their Account Structure setup.  They now want to be able to create Budget Register Entries using these same account structures.  As near as I can tell, that cannot be done.  I know you can use Adv Rules in Budget Planning, but not in Budget Register Entry.  I've also tried several recommended workarounds, none of which have been successful (ex: creating duplicate account structures to mimic the advanced rule setup, which doesn't work as the Ledger won't allow structures with duplicate value filters).  Has any one figured out a workaround for this, or attempted a dev-based modification (custom or 3rd party) to allow it?  I've seen a couple posts with similar questions but none have been answered, I'm hoping someone has recently had a light-bulb go off, or stumbled upon a solution.  Thanks!

Jimmie, your understanding is right, there is no way at this point to have advanced rules to budget register entry. Customization for this would not be straight forward. If your customer is not using budget control, I would suggest to stick having their budgets in budget plans and do reporting out of it. in MR you can bring in budget plan data to create Budget vs Actuals report. It would be simpler than trying to customize BRE.

Yeah, I've spent some time searching around on this.  Haven't found anything on LCS as of yet, so I may open a case to see what MS says.  That and start evaluating to what kind of scope we're talking for a custom modification.

Hi jk@soc1, Just double checked the feature and think that you are right. Seems that this is something that is not supported out of the box. You might thus have to adjust it. By the way, have you checked LifeCycleServices for a bug/hotfix already reported? Ludwig

Hey Ludwig, I have, yes.  That successfully allows the entry of Advanced Rules for Budget Plans, but not for Budget Registers.

Hi jk@soc1, Have you tried Setting up "Budget planning rules" in the configure account structure form? Ludwig
