How to integrate my Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 with TFS ?

Hello everyone!
Brand new here. Just started a couple of days ago with AX. I have been cracking my head on how to implement a ALM solution for our AX env. Turns out we have a TFS 2012 that we use with our VS2013. I have been trying to connect our AX env to the TFS, but sadly i just get generic error msgs.
Does anyone here know any tutorials that might help me out with that mission?
Any suggestion, hint, clue will be more than welcome.
Kind regards!
Desva.

    Hi.

AX with TFS is something quite used for a while now, so resources are available.

Here is a very comprehensive link: msdn.microsoft.com/.../aa639568.aspx.

Also this one is very useful from an ALM point of view: blogs.msdn.com/.../tfs-integration-with-microsoft-dynamics-ax-2012-and-automated-scripts-for-build-and-deployment.aspx.

And Joris made some excellent posts on this at: daxmusings.codecrib.com/.../announcing-ax-tfs-build-library.html (multiple posts are available).

Also, a short note.  You should be installing this for AX to be able to connect to TFS 2012: www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx

AX 2012 uses client libraries for TFS 2010, therefore if you're using TFS 2012, you have to i install the compatibility pack. It also means that you won't be able to use some new TFS  features from inside Dynamics AX. (This is more about custom extensions, because AX doesn't use too many TFS features anyway.)

But don't be afraid of it; many of us use it every day without any problem.

    Hello Iulian Cordobin,

Thanks for your reply. I went through the links and helped a lot (didnt quite understand all of it, but again, i started less than a week ago).

I downloaded the the file that you suggested, and turns out that is asking for VS 2010 while we are using VS2013 and therefore is giving me an error.

Is there one for VS2013 as well?

    Hello Martin,

Thanks also for your reply. I must admit that i am quite afraid of this new AX thing... totally different from what i ever did in life (developer).

Do u have that link where i can download that file for our TFS? By the way, we are using, i think, TFS2012. Will it still work?

    Kind regards!

See above the link for enabling AX with TFS 2012.

What's your exact version of AX. what you have downloaded and what's the message you got?

Libraries used by AX and by your Visual Studio are generally two different things.

"AX 2012 R3" is not sufficient information, because it's only R3 CU8 that added e support for VS 2013. Nevertheless I think that the integration with TFS still uses libraries for TFS 2010 anyway. (I would have to verify it to be sure.)
