    RE: Random AOS Crashes

Yes we had the same problem. Usually there is another error in event viewer right after or before the message you displayed. The first step is that as it should give you more info on the casuing. The next step is finding the process that makes your aos crash the most.  What lead to the KB# that fixed our issue was working with Microsoft to dump a ton of logs and were able to trace the problem back down to basically 1-3 objects. I detailed everything I tried @ axcalated.blogspot.com/.../firming-production-orders-crashes-aos.html

However I've seen simple things like endless loops cause the aos to crash. The first step is really figuring out what causes it to crash (the process not code) Oh yeah don't forget to check your users client event viewer (in windows)

The bad news: it took us about 12-18 months to figure out the issue

    RE: Random AOS Crashes

    Hi Dave,

Mostly the AOS crash is related to some actions taken by users. Are you able to trace when it is crashing? As an example at one customer (AX 2012 R2 with CU7) we had suddenly crashes after running a year without problems. It was traced towards two forms. One ISV and one standard form. It appears to be a kernel issue, as far as we found out ourselves. It is caused by a rare situation with a large number of legal entities in a security role, address book security enabled and a cross company select statement. We now are waiting on a fix from Microsoft.

If you can reproduce the issue, you can start a trace and use Microsoft support or LCS to analyse the trace file. See also the next blog: blogs.msdn.com/.../crash-and-hang-analysis-on-lcs.aspx
