GP Error the selected reord has been deleted

Hello, 

On the user setup screen there is a random error that occurs on selection of a user id from the lookup screen 'the selected record has been deleted' This occurs for full users, web users, active users and inactive users. Even if i just choose to use one particular username and bring that up multiple times after a few tries the error will display.

    I've seen this error where the table holding the info is having issues. Usually this error happens when a record gets created on one of the tables that needs to be updated when you are creating the record. For example, when you create an account number, if the account index table is updated, but somehow the account itself can't be created in the GL00100 table - then you will get this error. In which case I will need to recreate either the index table or the main table with data.. and try again.

    Try to find out the tables involved in that window... you can do the fix then

    Are the users showing in SQL?

    Open SQL Server Management Studio, expand both your DYNAMICS and company databases, expand Security, expand Users. Are all of the users showing there in both databases?

    by any chances are you using some 3rd-party users management tools like FastPath ? if so, you should not create users in GP, but in FastPath as it manages the entries in SY01400 directly and also GP security.. You're going to screw up FP if you try to add or delete users from this side of GP.

    Do you have any processes/triggers that manipulate records in the SY_Users_MSTR (SY01400) table.

    That error message occurs when the record displayed in a scrolling window is no longer available in the range/table.

    I would love to see GP Power Tools logs (Dexterity logs and SQL Logs) of what is happening as I suspect there is some custom code somewhere.

    Hi David,

    I am not the original poster but have recently discovered the same issue while performing a test upgrade for a client.  I have attached an edited DEXSQL.LOG file.  To give you some context, I opened the 'user setup' window then cleared the DEXSQL.log so it was empty, then performed lookups against the TestUser1 GP login until it threw the same 'The selected record has been deleted' error.  I think it took two attempts for it to happen so the DEXSQL.log has about the smallest amount of detail I can provide.

    More context:

    These do not occur in their "old" GP 2016 environment

    Test upgrade is to GP 18.3.1290

    There are two custom triggers on the SY01400 table but I have disabled them.  We have used these triggers for many years at all clients without issues.

    Beat mentioned 3rd party tools that may be an issue - Rockton GP Toolbox and Smartfill are part of the implementation but were removed from the .SET file before launch.

    I welcome your thoughts on this.  Please let me know if there is anything else I can provide.

    The DEXSQL.LOG provided some information but is not that helpful as this is a Dexterity error and is not necessarily involving SQL.

    If you used GP Power Tools to capture the logs it would give us 5 logs rather than 1.

    This could be caused by an add-on product as you have references to a DYNAMICS.dbo.DTK40200 table.

    If you use GPPT Resource information window in table mode and enter the physical name DTK40200, it will identify the product this is from.

    Then you could use GPPT Dictionary Control to temporarily disable the product and any alternate windows it has to test if the issue still occurs.

    GP Power Tools was originally the Support Debugging Tool and is designed for this sort of debugging.

    Install it and activate the free 30 day trial period.

    Update:

    I was able to resolve this issue.  There was an issue with Dynamics GP logins that had associated Windows accounts that were likely remnants of a failed Dynamics GP Web Client deployment.

    There were 4 problematic Dynamics GP logins that had an ADObjectGuid record in the SY01400 table but when viewed in User Setup window their Windows Account did not appear.

    Ultimately, executing the following cleaned up the problematic records and resolved the issue.

    update DYNAMICS..SY01400

    set ADObjectGuid = '' where ADObjectGuid <> '' AND SQLLoginID <> ''
