I am not the original poster but have recently discovered the same issue while performing a test upgrade for a client. I have attached an edited DEXSQL.LOG file. To give you some context, I opened the 'user setup' window then cleared the DEXSQL.log so it was empty, then performed lookups against the TestUser1 GP login until it threw the same 'The selected record has been deleted' error. I think it took two attempts for it to happen so the DEXSQL.log has about the smallest amount of detail I can provide.

These do not occur in their "old" GP 2016 environment
Test upgrade is to GP 18.3.1290
There are two custom triggers on the SY01400 table but I have disabled them. We have used these triggers for many years at all clients without issues.
Beat mentioned 3rd party tools that may be an issue - Rockton GP Toolbox and Smartfill are part of the implementation but were removed from the .SET file before launch.
