Failed to create a metadata service client in 5 attempts? AOSService keeps stopping. 503 Service Unavailable.

Hey there,

I am on version 10.0.6 / 30

I took the steps below yesterday to add a new table and entity to my instance and now my environment is 503ing! I've taken these exact same steps before. I checked services and IIS and found World Wide Web Publishing had stopped, so I restarted that. I then discovered my application pool had stopped, so I also started that. The application came back up and I was able to use the home page, but it crashed shortly after also returning 503's.

So I start looking in EventLogs for errors in IIS- there are no IIS errors. The only errors I can find are the following:

Failed to create a metadata service client in 5 attempts.

Metadata service communication retry attempts failed to resolve issues with the following settings AX7CertificateUserName: FRServiceUser@dynamics.com; AX7CertificateThumbprint: <omitted>; AX7FederationRealm: spn:00000015-0000-0000-c000-000000000000; AX7ProviderName: mintedtoken.dynamics.com; AX7TokenIssuer: fakeacs.accesscontrol.windows.net/ Component: Microsoft.Dynamics.Integration.Common.TraceLog User: NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE Machine: devd6912992-1

And the warning:

Received the following exception when contacting the AX Metadata Service possibly due to expired token. Attempted to retry the operation 5 times with no success. The HTTP service located at localhost/.../MetadataService is unavailable.

l didn't make any changes to MetadataService so I think this is a red herring... any tips for next steps to get my environment back online?

Steps I took:

Create new table

Create new field and index on table

Extend another table with this table

Update entity to reference new field

Update form to include new field

    Hi Tayapr,

Can you check if there are expired certificates in your environment? If this is a devbox, you can also setup a new one, retrieve the latest changes from DevOps and try again.

I did forget to mention that, but yest I did check certificates and did not see any expired.

This is devlopment box, however and we haven't yet integrated a build/test machine so we have no backup there.

    Hi Tayapr,

You can try to setup a new second machine, use a model export/import or first connect to DevOps for backing up the coding. Then see if you have the same issue or not. Have you also tried a full build of your model(s) or all models and a database sync?
