Ax 2009 compatibilty with late versions of Windows server

Posted on by 1,669

Hi everyone

Does anyone know whether Ax 2009 SP1 CU8 is compatible with Windows Server 2016 or 2019?

The system requirements here download.microsoft.com/.../ax2009systemrequirements.pdf only lists Windows Server 2012 R2, but I'm not sure whether that's because the documentation is old, or because Ax 2009 is incompatible with later versions of Windows Server.

Any help appreciated as always.

Thanks

    Thanks for the answers gentlemen.

D365 is definitely on the road map, and we're heading there. There was this requirement in the meantime though.

    I'll advice about compatibility accordingly.

It's not supported since AX2009 is not supported at all anymore.

It might work, though. If I remember correctly I've seen issues in Excel export (via definition groups) with AX2009+Windows Server 2016.

    Hi Brandon,

As AX 2009 had reached the end of its lifecycle, Microsoft will not do any compatibility testing. The document will not be updated anymore. This does not mean that it is not working. You have to test carefully yourself if AX2009 runs on Windows server 2016 or 2019.

Anyway, it would be recommended to upgrade to the latest version available (Dynamics 365).

If you look at carefully this document is published  January 2017 so no need to worry .
Proceed with your installation with Latest Build and Service Packs minimum requirement is AX 2009 SP1 with RU 8 .
You can try with latest Kernel  version https://cloudblogs.microsoft.com/dynamics365/no-audience/2012/03/29/overview-of-microsoft-dynamics-ax-build-numbers/

    Hope this will help.
