Hello All,

When I tried to create movement journal or use a particular item, I am getting a message that "Item has been locked and it is in counting"..I remeber one of colleague created a counting journal for this item and then deleted that journal..

Can anyone guide me on how do I unlock or get out of this message?? I dont see any counting journal for this item now..

Go to the item record, select the setup button and item warehouse, go to the general tab and remove teh counting started flag.

If you do this and there is a journal it will allow you to create another journal and double enter differences.

found solution :) i have an open counting journal with these items :D then i deleted them and post new adjustment journal :)

Hi,

I know this is a bit delayed but I am having this same issue on AX2012R2. the problem is that there are no journals open for this item. I am trying to transfer the one particular item from one warehouse to the other

Please advise if you have a solution for this

Go to the warehouse item for the item and then check the counting started - it will have a tick and a journal. Uncheck the field.

I have checked this, there is no tick in the check box. there is no other open transaction on this item such as a transfer journal etc. also the error message states that the item is locked in the In transit warehouse. I am trying to update the item to Shipment

Hi,

Steven's comments on Unchecking the Counting started Field helped. we had a situation in which a counting journal was created, but then multiple lines where deleted.

Seems that the field remains checked until the journal is posted. Have not validated if just deleting the line from the counting journal does the trick (i know it normally does), but in this case when deleting the lines in mass, seems we came to a bug that didn't uncheck the counting started field in the Warehouse Items Form (quick reference for the check location : Release Products -->Manage Inventory ribbon --> warehouse group --> warehouse Items.. in form, General Tab for the warehouse that shows on the error message

Item <itemid> is locked for update in warehouse <Warehouseid> because it is being counted.

Hi,

I had similar issue while creating movement journal AX 2009. "Item 45046138 is locked for updates in warehouse ESH-SF because it is being counted."

1. There is no counting journal open all are posted.

2. I removed all the existing movement journal and inserted new line for Item 45046138 .... it is show the same error.

What if i manually remove the check box 'Counting started' from the item. It will solve the error? Is there any other way to remove this error?

Yes, remove the check. make sure there is no journal blocking it, or depending on your version, if there is an inventory block... but yes remove it.... this could happen because a counting journal line was deleted and the check was not updated in the "warehouse items" form
