Data Import Error using downloaded data template - Error Code 2147187704

Hi

I am using "Template for Data Import"  option to import data into the Incident table.

When I upload the Excel file sing the data import, I get the error "State code is invalid or state code is valid but status code is invalid for a specified state code"..

And under further information the message is " 5 is not a valid status code for state code for IncidentState.Active"

I am not sure, how to troubleshoot this error?

I would greatly appreciate some guidance.

Thank you.

David

And usually, this happens when you try to import an excel file that has been previously exported as ready for import. Below is a sample file that has been previously exported in that format. If you open the file and expand the columns A, B & C, you shall see the record GUID and checksum.

And when you use the same format and try to import it again, if any of the records does not exist in CRM, you will get that error.

How can you get rid of this error? You can save the file as .csv format and delete columns A, B & C. And then change the column values and try to import. Everything should work fine.

    Hi David,

Hope you are doing well.  Have you had any previous issues with importing new records into this table?

Are you aware of any workflows/plug-ins/business rules that exist for a new incident?

It may be a good first step to check in on any that apply to this entity that could be triggered and may have some additional field requirements.

One other path to verify is to possibly create a test incident record and then export that record via the excel export process.  Make a slight change or no change at all and then attempt reimport that file to see if it executes without error.  That way you know you aren't having an issue with the import process itself and it may be more related to something that is executing when the entity record is created.

Hopefully this helps.  I will keep an eye out for any updates on this issue.

Thanks David and have a happy New Year!
