Repointing CRM 2016 from one domain to another

Hello,

We want to change our CRM 2016 server from one domain to another.  It one server that hosts everything including the database.  It's CRM 2016 and we are out of support.  We are moving to a new platform, but we must keep this going for a few more month until we are fully migrated.

What is the best way to do this without having to re-install as we are out of support and no longer have a valid license and I don't know if we can do an installation.  I remember doing this a very long time ago on version 4 by updating the CRM database with the new domain value, but I could not find a way to do that now.

I have the same question (0)

So when you say to create a new CRM server environment, do you mean a new install of CRM? and then basically restore the org via Deployment manager?  I remember doing this a very long time ago, so basically the order is as follows:

1- Install new again in on a new server (or uninstall on current server)

2- backup org database via sql

3- Restore org database in sql

4- in Deployment manager import new org by pointing it to the restored org database in sql

Any way to modify the internal CRM database to update it with the new AD information?

I was also informed that they are moving to Azure AD!  I searched and it looks like it may not be an easy integration or supported.

The only supported way is to create a new CRM server environment within the new domain and restore the org DB from the older environment to the new SQL server in the new domain and import using Deployment Manager.
