Is there an easier way to view which person has been assigned a workflow item? (Leave request)

Posted on by 73

Hi Everyone,

Our time-off process involves an employee applying for leave which is then sent to their manager for approval, once that is accepted it is sent to HR for final approval.

In the time-off request section request's that are currently 'in review' status have no indication of where the workflow progress is at, unless you individually go into each request, view the history and scroll down to the work items section to see if the manager has approved it or if HR needs to approve the workflow.

Has anyone found an easier way to do this?

is it possible to create a custom column on the time off request page that tells you who the workflow has been assigned to at this point in time? So, if it was the manager (pending request) who needed to approve the leave it would show their name. OR if the manager had approved the leave it would show the HR managers name for final approval.

Surely there is a faster way to view this information without having to individually go through each workflow history to see where the workflow tracking/item is at?

Thank you,

Casper

Thanks! How in the workflow did You calculate the manager of the submitted employee?

    Hi Mantas Sedys ,

An employee would apply for leave which is sent to their manager for approval. If the manager approves the request, this is then sent to Human Resources for final approval.

When viewing the time off area in Dynamics there is no area to suggest what stage the approval is at when the status is in 'pending'. This mean you have to individually click into each request to see if the manager has approved leave or it is up to HR to approve.

    Hi Parag Chapre ,

I am using a stand alone HR environment so it looks like I don't have access to the table browser function.

Is there something similar in the HR version where I can view these tables?

    Hi Casper,

Are you using Dynamics 365 HR or Dynamics 365 Finops-HR?

In Dynamics 365 Finops-HR, you can check below link for the table browser and check above tables.

    Hi Parag Chapre ,

Apologies if I'm missing something. Where can I find these three tables?

In the excel workbook I only have these three available:

    Hi Casper,

The best way is to go table browser and check the below workflow tables.

    1. SysWorkflowTable

    2. WorkflowWorkItemTable

    3. WorkflowTrackingStatusTable

You can't directly add custom column in Time-off request form for workflow because it involved multiple tables.

    It needs a development.
