Hi Friends,

I am having a doubt in load balancing in AX,for one of my client need to configure load balancing they having 3 AOS, AOS1,AOS2 , AOS3. Planning to do Load balancing in AOS1  As per load balancing it will allocate the user automatically to AOS2 and AOS3. my question is

1) what happen if the AOS1 is down. how the load balancing will work.

2) Is it possible to do load balancing using 2 AOS

3) How to do the client configuration for this.

    Hello

Microsoft provides 2 ways to realize this.

    1) with dedicated load balance server

    2) without dedicated load balance server

The first way is not recommended by many users.

To realize the load balancing without dedicated load balance server, you should configure like this:

    - Clusterconfiguration: Don't use the default cluster named "Non Load Balanced AOS Instances", but create your proper cluster "My LB cluster". (This is essential !)

    - Add as many AOS's servers to this cluster as you like

    - Clientconfiguration: each server must be added to the client configuration, after the words: aos2,Text,........

Doing like this, your load balancing will work correctly. Please note, that only the standard client sessions will be load balanced, but not the connections on reporting services and enterprise portal. To achieve the latter, you must configure a load balancing on the network layer.

    Hans,

    Thanks for your reply

I tried with the following things,

    1 ) I changed the AOS2 as a batch server

    2) created a new cluster and given AOS 1 as load balancer when we check that load balancer concurrent session is automatically changing to 0 . is it will happen like this ?

    next question is

i configured the reporting server in both the AOS. and i created a user group for reporting users, but when the user is connected from AOS2 and trying to open the reports its showing the error Default reporting server is not found in SSRS table.

After trying much i added as user name in reporting server den the reports are opening from AOS2 itself. i did not faced this type of issues in reporting server.

    Hi

    There is still a misunderstanding.

Try the 2nd method without dedicated load balancer.

This means: don't check any checkbox to enable dedicated load balancer in the cluster configuration window.

Regarding the reporting services configuration: please note that each of the application server on which users will connect must have his own configuration.

This means: if you have 3 application servers for user connections, you must have 3 entries in the configuration window, even if the configurations point on the same reporting server.

Note that the SSRS reporting server will have to "point back" to the cluster, and not an individual AOS machine, if you want reporting to also survive the outage of an AOS.

    hi

You need not provide a dedicated load balancer. It is not required in most cases unless you have that heavy user load who is logging into AX too frequently and AOS's are consuming lot of time to allocate a session among them.

Also note that a load balancer  cannot accept any user sessions and it will also consume your max. number of AOS's license.

The best way is to add all 3 under the same load balanced cluster and make sure you point the client machines to all 3 AOS's in the client configuration connection tab eg :

in the Client Config form specify the  "ServerName","InstanceName","TCP/IP port","WSDL Port" as below :

    1. AOS1; AOS server 1; 2712; 8101

    2. AOS2; AOS Server 2; 2712; 8101

    3. AOS3; AOS Server 3; 2712; 8101

You may move the instances up / down as per your priority requirements. this will make sure that your users will be able to connect to an AOS instance even if the other one is down.

if AOS1 is not connecting, the client will connect to AOS2 from this configuration automatically.

I have 3 AOS ( AOS 3- Batch server) which are part of the default cluster named : "Non Load Balanced AOS Instances" and my client configuration is having AOS 1 and AOS2. But somehow I observe that load on AOS 1 is high( >350 session(User and Worker) compared to AOS 2 (< 35 session) .

Load balancing is not working proper!

I have below question related AOS cluster:

    1. Is it because of the default cluster name or  creating New cluster name is mandatory?

    2. Can we map all AOS's to point to different cluster name when all users are connected to AOS's or do we need plan down time for this configuration change?

    3. What is the importance of max client session apart from restricting the session on that AOS.

You will only get load balancing if you add the user AOS instances to the same cluster within AX under System administration > Setup > System > Cluster configuration. We have created one called 32Bit Client Load Balanced AOS Instance. Then listing the AX AOS instances in that group for the AXC file would distribute the connections equally.
