Admin of Owner team is able to add members to a team, but cannot remove them. Is this a bug?

Hello,

I have a user who is the administrator for an Owner team. I have found this note in the documentation as well as read other threads in the forums with resolutions. All seem to point to privileges of Append and Append To on the Team and User tables.

The Owner team in question does not have a security role associated with it, and the administrating user has the needed privileges to add and remove members.

They have tried and we have reproduced the issue that they can successfully add members to the team, but they are unable to remove members. When they attempt to remove members, they get an error as such:

Is there anything I am missing or is this a bug?

Hello aepe_mmc,

For testing purpose, promote the user (Team Owner) as System Administrator and see if you can replicate the issue.

Consider this as Bug if you able to replicate and If you unable to replicate, it’s a security issue.

You can plan with security roles/permissions to adjust the privileges that will allow user to perform desire action.

It is probably missing permission issue. Can you share error log file details ?

Hi Daivat -

If we promote the user to a system administrator, then yes, they can remove members from the team. We don't know what the missing permission is that will allow removing members from a team and have followed the documentation. I'm stumped at what permission would prevent us from removing a user from a team because we've tested applying org level permissions to the security role for both the Team and User tables.

Amit Katariya007 - Are you asking for the response to the payload in the last screenshot? It is the same generic error from the UI error screenshot, but I can provide that if needed.

Can you ask one of the user to remove a user manually? Because if there is any permission issue then system will show a pop up with the missing permission details.

Hello all,

We were able to resolve this issue by increasing the permissions so they look like this. The issue, which isn't in the documentation, turned out to be that the Team must have a security role assigned to it in order to remove members. We ended up giving the team the Basic User role.

There are three requirements:

Team must have a security role.

User removing members must have Append and Append To privileges.

User removing members must have a higher security role than the team has.
