Can Smartlist pass parameters to SQL Server?

I built a custom smartlist that gets data from an SQL view.  However, I'd like to customize the data returned to the smartlist based on date(s).  Can I somehow use the search criteria from Smartlist to pass to an SQL stored procedure/query to pull data from the view dynamically.

No.  This is a listing tool and not really set up to pass parameters.  The parameters in the Smartlist can be used to filter the results presented by the view and show only those lines.  The view will not be managed but the entire list of records returned by the view can be then limited to show only the ones specified in the Search criteria.

I thought this may be the case.  Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something.  I'm fairly new to GP and even newer to Smartlists.  Thanks for your quick response.

If you are new, then you might find some of our books helpful. We even have on (Customizing with the Builders) that covers the SmartList Builder.  Check out our web site.

If you have Extender, you can create an Extender window with the dates that you need...attach it to the Smartlist Window...create the smartlist view of the dates and use that view in you sql query as needed...when you want to change dates...change them in the smartlist extender window..i have many date windows like this and they work great .

is extender free?  if so can I download from msft or do I have to get it from my VAR?

You would have to go through your VAR.
