Setting up territories and price lists

Hello, these may seem a basic or perhaps vague questions but i was wondering if it is possible to set up territories in dynamics AX 2012. I cannot find any information on how to do so. I did find an article from the Top 10 ERP website stating that a benefit of this program was the ability to set up territories and teams for maximum organizational proficiency and create price lists. Which leads me to my second question, is it possible to set up price lists in AX 2012? If so, how do I do that? I have been asked to set these up for my company but do not know where to start.

Thank you in advance for any replies!

    Hi ITL-JKNOPP,

Can you kindly tell the business scenario for the price list. what are you actually looking for as a business requirement when you say "setup price list".

Thank you for the response. What I would like to see is a list that I can export to Microsoft Excel that details the product name, line attributes, and also lists the price of the item. Ultimately, I would like to be able to export our product's price information to an external program in order to print out and have as a hard copy for reference or distribution to members of our team.

    Thank you,

    Hi TL-JKNOPP,

Its important to know which prices you want to see in the report for all items together whether you want to sales price or purchase price?

Secondly where have you stored the price information for the items. In the item master, trade agreements or purchase/sales agreements?

But as far as i know there is only one report which gives price information for items. The report is base price/discount setup which brings the prices setup on the purchase, sell and manage cost tab of the item master.

If you use item master to store your information its a useful report for analysis but if you use trade agreements or purchase/sales agreements for storing price information then there is no report to see item prices from them as far as I know. You need to customize as per your requirement.

I am relatively new to Microsoft Dynamics AX, but your terminology leads me to think that this advice is for an earlier model than ours which is AX 2012 R3. Is this the case? If not, then I am curious as to where I would find the base price/discount setup? I do not mean any disrespect in questioning your advice, I am only confused and looking for clarification.

Also, perhaps I could clarify better by explaining that our sales team uses an external source for recording item prices currently. Here in the near future we will be applying prices to each of our items in the system and hope to generate price list reports at that time.

So what I am asking is, what is the best way to input sales and purchase pricing information so that when we go to generate reports we can without running into issues? And then, what are the steps to generate that report once we have that data inputted?

    Hi ITL-JKNOPP,

Now my suggestion applies to even Dynamics 365.

Kindly navigate to Inventory management >  Price/Discount reports > Base price/discount  setup.

This report gives sales price setup on items. Try generating this for your business its easy to use.

Also as suggested above you can store you sales prices for customers in three ways in AX.

    1- Setup on item

    2- Trade agreements

    3- Sales agreements

So depending upon the business requirement you have to decide the option.

The base price/discount report only shows prices setup for option 1 i.e when sales prices are setup on items.
