How to trouble shoot data management file upload issue

Hi,

We tried to upload some files via data import project, but it only showed "Error while uploading file". Is there any way to find out the cause of this?

The error messages in data management are not always very informative. However you might find some additional info somewhere in the import screen.

Often you need some trial and error to understand what caused the issue.

You should start by exporting this entity so that you will get a nice sample file. Then replace the data in the file with the data that you want to import and import it. It doesn't always work like this, it depends on the entity and it's fields. But the exported file is always a good starting point.

there are two failure points

1st to staging which is mostly due to primary key violation and can be seen in the execution log

2nd is for individual records with dependent data or invalid data type and can be seen from staging data details

Have you checked LCS issue search for known issues? What is the file size?

Hi,

There is the option to generate an error file if it is prior to staging then this can be helpful to identify which lines are causing the issues.

Did you see additional execution from execution history? If you are on local VM, this could occur if Azure storage emulator is not available or an older version of the emulator is installed. To resolve this issue, install the latest emulator, re-start the virtual machine (VM), and re-run the job.

also try loading in a dev VM and capture events under Dynamics node to get error details

Hello Yuji,

Have you gone through the suggestions already discussed in this thread?

Better to export the upload file from the data management itself and then fill the data in relevant columns and then upload.

Also this is not clear, you are trying to upload what type of data. If this is financial dimension values along with the main account combination, then make sure you have set this properly in the upload file in the same sequence which you can find in the account structure and Financial dimension combination for integrating applications forms which is active.

For example; MainAccount-BusinessUnit-Department-CostCenter which can be set like this; 10001-BU01-DP01-CC01.

If you are using local VM and it's updated to 10.0.8/PU32, you need to update Azure Storage Emulator or Data management doesn't work.
