Over delivery and batchnumber

Question:

I create a sales order with 1 line of 1 item.
The item is followed with batch number and has an over delivery tolerance of 100%
The item has as type "Service"
Over deliveries are ticked on the sales parameters.
The quantity on the sales line is 5 pces.

I create a packing slip for the sales order. On the "posting packing slip" form I register the batchnumber with the help of the pick function.
In the same form I update the quantity to 7.
When I post the packing slip I receive the following info-box:
"Inventory dimension Batch number is a primary input/output dimension and must consequently be specified."

In other words I cannot overdeliver an item followed with batch number.

Is this a lack of functionnality in AX? Or is there a workaround?

Thank you!

JEMM

    Hi Jemm,

You can update the quantity of an item in the packing slip form and then post the packing slip.

Your inventory as well as financial transaction will be made at the time of posting the packing slip not at the time of doing the picking.

Kindly test your scenario by updating the quantity of an item on packing slip form.

In case of nay clarification, do let me know.

    Regards

    Hi Rahul,

I know that but it only works if your item is not followed with batchnumber dimension.

When an item is followed by batchnumber you cannot upgrade the quantity to more which is ordered.

    Hi Jemm,

In that case, you can update the batch number on the sales order line and then update the quantity of that item in the packing slip form.

In this way you will able to post the overdelivery quantity.

    Hi Rahul,

    Your solution works fine indeed.

But it works only if the overdelivered quantity is for ONE same batch number. What have I to do if the delivered quantity concerns 2 batchnumbers for example.

    Thanks.

    Greetz,

You have to reserve the batch number (or add it to the sales order line) before you can post the over delivery.  You cannot specify the batch number on the delivery note posting form.

    Hi Tim,

Thx for your answer. However I've tried to test it but without succes.

    1. You cannot reserve a quantity higher that the quantity ordered

    2. My goal is to deliver more than ordered and on different batchnumbers

    3. The scenario is also to be applied in a interco cycle

It seems to be that the only solution is to work with picking list and picking list confirmation. Going this way you've got no problems to overdeliver with batchnumbers.

    Regards,

    Jemm

    RESOLUTION

    =======================

There is no way to register a batch number for the over delivery part on the Packing slip posting form. Users cannot set a batch number on the packing slip line, and also the Picking form you can access from the packing slip form, tab page Lines, button Inventory / Pick does not allow picking more than the quantity on the sales order line.

    Recommended procedure for this scenario:

1- Creation of a sales order. In the delivery tab, specify that over delivery = 100

Posting > picking list. Click OK, so that we post the picking list of the five items.

    2. Posting > picking list registration. In the picking list registration form, introduce the batch number, and change the quantity from 5 to 7. In updates > update all.

    3. Posting > packing slip. Quantity is updated to 7.

    4. Post packing slip.
