View Power BI Reports in D365 Dashboard Without PBI Pro License

Hello!

I have several power bi reports that I have embedded in a traditional Dynamics dashboard just using iframes. The URLs that I used are not from publishing them to the web, they are from the embedding option of "website or portal". The content of the reports is sensitive enough that I cannot use publish to the web. All users that would be viewing the reports have D365 licenses and would be viewing the reports from inside dynamics.

1. Does anyone know how the end users can view reports from withing dynamics without an additional Power BI pro license?

2. If the answer is that they must have a Power BI Pro license, do you have a link to Microsoft documentation that specifically states that users with a D365 license must still have a pro license? I've found articles by Microsoft that says all users must have a license and there was an article that someone referenced in 2017 that specifically stated that even D365 users needed a PBI pro license to view the reports, but that article has since been taken down. I will need this documentation for justification purposes.

I appreciate everyone's help!

Thanks,

Dana

    Hi,

Regarding the question you mentioned about whether users need a Power BI Pro license to access the Power BI reports embedded in Dynamic365. I checked the official Microsoft documentation and got the following answer.

According to the official Microsoft documentation, if you are using secure embedding, the user needs the following license to view the embedded reports

The links to the documents are as follows:Embed a report in a secure portal or website - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

If you are using either embedding for a customer or embedding for an organization you can see the following comparison information

The links to the documents are as follows:Power BI embedded analytics overview - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

I hope my answer is helpful to you! If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me.

    Best Regards,

    Rudy Zhang
