Upload vendors in one company. How to share these vendors globally?

Hi All,

If I upload the vendors in one legal entity, can I share them globally? Is there a check box?

Or at the point of uploading, does the system give you the option to share the vendor records to your choice of legal entities? Just like when you release a product, you have a choice of which legal entity to release the product to.

A feature for sharing customers and vendors was introduced in the Spring release (8.0). It is disabled by default, so you must request Microsoft to activate it for you.

Kim, the MS article says you should contact your MS solution architect. If you are in the FastTrack program with your project, you have a named contact on MS side. If you are not, just create a service request of type Other on your LCS implementation project and see what they suggest.

Hi Kim,

I have test the method on this blog: community.dynamics.com/.../cross-company-data-sharing-in-dynamics-365-for-operations. This works for me.

Vendtable has a "Main" table group property. While tables with the “Main” table group were not supported for cross-company data sharing. So you need to customize the Vendtable and VendBankAccount and reset their table group to "Group". After sharing vendor between companies, you may remove the customization of these two table.

Ada, that's not how you should do it, and it doesn't even work with the current version (8.0+) because such customizations are blocked. Just follow Microsoft's documentation on how to share customers and vendors.

On the other hand, the new MS feature is not available in pre-8.0 versions. But it's good to be aware that "hacking" around the restrictions might not be a good idea in the long run. Your upgrade experience to 8.0 might have issues.

Please ignore the suggestion from Ada. Nikolaos provided the most valuable answers here. I strongly agree with Nikolaos to NOT change the standard application. For sure not when there is a normal procedure to achieve something.

Hello Kim,

In D365 you cannot share vendors you can only copy a vendor from one legal entity to another but you can share the party id from the global address book. If you want to create the vendor in multiple legal entities you have to import in one legal entity, copy the party id and import the vendors into other legal entities.
