You can manage user and user groups in AD but so far my standing goes other use management is not possible from out of box AX. This is definitely achievable though services but I guess the work involved will be way to high.

In AX 2012 we don't have User Group concept, so setting it up is not necessary

as per my understanding, Yes it is possible to manage users thru business connector

You need to understand the data model related to user information and then you can have interface to manage it.

but as per best practice, user management is something like setup configuration so it should be done by dynamics AX administrator, all the necessary setup tools dynamics AX provides and its good enough.

Please let us know few more details what you are thinking to manage using business connector

what right now I am thinking is it will be redundant and extra effort, unless it really brings value.

Please provide more details about your requirement, that will help provide some solution design.

any reply with more details will  be appreciated.

As always, you should tell us which version of AX you're using. AX 2012 has better means for this task than Business Connector.

If you're using an older version, look at Creating AX users in Powershell, which I've just published for you. The script there uses Business Connector.

Thanks for the information. The requirement is to create user identities in different systems from one single place systematically. Dynamics AX version used is 2009. I am trying to find a way creating users either thru web service or business connector calling built in objects. Thanks again for your help.

If you review standard AX process for creating user and assigning User Group, you will find that it is designed in a wizard where in it collects different details and creates the user

may be you need to analyse standard process to get the logic and data modal which you need to populate using business connector.

Let me know if you need me to provide you more details related to logic and data modal, I can help you

I consider it is achievable and will be a good tool

Let me know if you need any technical support in development of the tool.
